Two months in, we’ve made it to the finishing work of our bathroom renovation. After our demo work during week one, we hired a plumber to install the new tub and raise the faucet and shower head. Unfortunately, we had a broken pipe under the slab and a crack in the shower floor, so our plumber had to cut through and remove a section of the slab. Once we repaired the floor, our plumber returned to install the tub and faucets. This time our faucet mechanisms did not match the rebuilt valve. So we are back to shopping for a new faucet. The bright side is that we can finally get the walls back up. Husband and I spent the weekend installing drywall, the backboard in the shower, taping, and mudding. We are not professionals; this is our second attempt to drywall, so there are many mistakes. However, working together and putting effort into our house is rewarding. Let’s hope I don’t fixate on the uneven wall while trying to relax in my bubble bath.

DIY projects out of my comfort zone are daunting, and I get caught up in trying to do it the professional way to perfection. However, the knowledge I learn and the sense of accomplishment I feel for doing it myself greatly outweigh any imperfection in my work.
