Week 15

Deciduous Blackjack Oak trees surround my house and yard. They drop their leaves in the winter, revealing an intricate and complex branching system. The black bark and crooked branches against the winter grey sky are stunning. I have four magnificent oak trees in my backyard that my husband and I often refer to as our “Granddaddy Oaks.” There is one named after each of our grandfathers. They shower me with wisdom, serenity, and year-round beauty. Seemingly overnight, the magnificent Oak trees transformed into a fresh newness, leaving winter a distant memory. As I gaze into the woods behind my house this week, I notice the seasonal shift into Spring. The illuminating fresh green leaves glow against the bright blue skies, announcing Spring is here.
